It was a spur of the moment decision to head down to the show at London Excel. Seeing that the weather was rotten, it turned out to be a good call. Somewhere with a range of interesting subjects that was also warm and dry!

I still find shooting hand held and in doors a challenge. It's finding the balance between ISO, Depth of field and the shutter speed and despite the number of lights this still proved to be the case. But rather than fall back on the trusty auto mode I stuck in full manual. This gives greater control over the end result but it can take time to get things right for each shot. Something that was in short supply at the show.

Trickiest of all was shooting the cars in the grand parade. I couldn't quite get the right mix to completely freeze the cars against a blurring background. At first glance it seemed I had failed utterly. But on closer inspection some of the cars are actually quite crisp.but because of their movement, the lights reflecting off the have blurred giving the impression that the car hasn't been shot correctly.

I'm happy with a number of the shots but next time I will switch to Tv mode when trying to shoot a fast moving target indoors. Then I can set the shutter speed and the camera will do the rest.
